ESOL courses are for people whose first language is not English.
Our ESOL courses will help you if you want to find a job, study at another College course, or go to University. You will also develop communication skills which could help you make new friends or explore new hobbies or interests. Our teachers are very experienced and are always ready to help you.

ESOL Course Levels
Entry Levels are suitable for candidates with some understanding of the English language, who can read, write and communicate with others but would like to develop their skills further. Employability is a core element of the courses and learners will develop their job searching and interview skills.
The Level 1 and 2 are designed for candidates with a good command of English who would like further practise; speaking and listening, reading and writing, as well as develop their skills further. Employability is a core element of these courses and learners develop their job searching, interview skills and they also update their CV in preparation to enter the workplace.
ESOL Level Content in Detail
ESOL Entry Level 1 Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening
The course is for students in the early stages of learning English, who already have some of the language. It is not for complete beginners. You can already understand and use familiar expressions and basic phrases. You can respond if spoken to slowly. You can write letters and numbers on a line with the correct spacing. You can read simple short texts on familiar topics and obtain information from signs and symbols.
You will learn basic practical English for everyday life and for working in the UK and you will make progress with the basic grammar of English. You will develop your skills in speaking and listening, but also in reading and writing, and you will work towards C&G Entry Level 1 exams in all 3 skills. These skills will be further improved, especially through your Individual Learning Plan and homework.
ESOL Entry Level 2 Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening
The course is for students who have achieved a basic level of English. You can already understand and produce simple language in familiar situations such as basic personal and family information, shopping, employment and education. You can read and understand signs, symbols, basic instructions, notices and short texts. You can fill in simple forms and write short notes.
You will learn basic practical English for everyday life and for working in the UK and you will make progress with the basic grammar of English. You will learn how to improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills whilst preparing to take exams in all 3 skills. You will also consolidate this learning through your Individual Learning Plan and homework.
ESOL Entry Level 3 Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening
The course is for learners who have a pre-intermediate/intermediate level of English. You can already understand and produce simple and more complex language in familiar situations such as basic personal and family information, shopping, employment and education. You can read and understand signs, symbols, basic instructions, notices and short texts. You can fill in simple forms and write short notes. You may already have a qualification at Entry 2.
