The important bits

There is only one unit for this course which explores in-depth the required knowledge needed to prepare students to work in a care setting. Firstly, it will focus on understanding the aims, principles and policies of end of life care. It will then look at the key factors regarding communication, such as how to approach certain types of questions relating to end of life care. It will endeavour to define local and national policies and guidance for care after death. It will discuss how to access the range of readily available support services. This unit will also identify the potential barriers an individual may face when accessing end of life care.

  • Develop effective communication techniques for sensitive and compassionate care with the patient and their families.
